Tributes to film & TV cars are a tricky business - there's always something faintly embarrassing about replicas that are based on the wrong model; an Only Fools And Horses van based on a Reliant Robin, for example, or an A-Team van based on a Bedford CF.Now, the original Mystery Machine in Scooby Doo was a 1968 Chevrolet Sportvan 108. And what you see here is quite clearly not one of those... it is, in fact, a 1965 Ford Econoline. So it's too old, too small, the wrong make and, well, just wrong. But on the other hand, it's also kind of awesome. It's got a fully rebuilt 200ci straight-six, it's lowered at the front to give it a bit of rake, it's got an eye-searingly bright interior, and the livery is a work of art. Yeah, it's inauthentic, but who cares? It's really, really cool.
