The purpose of concept cars is to showcase forthcoming design ideas, innovative technology and materials, and to offer something outlandish and jarring to shock the crowds at motor shows. Today that means carbotitanium tubs, Raptor-style digital displays and interiors woven from hessian and the hair of Vietnamese wolves. In 1925, it meant the Rolls-Royce 10EX.This early prototype had aerodynamic 'torpedo' coachwork by Barker which was much lighter than the body of the Phantom on which it was based, making this Rolls-Royce's first sports car. It was retained by the factory for a number of years, during which time it was lent to Lawrence of Arabia for continental touring. Which is quite a cool boast.
