The annual Dirt Track Races at the Hindenberg Speedway offer enthusiasts of pre-1959 cars and bikes the opportunity to race in the traditional way: on loose dirt, with very little grip, and with a rather relaxed attitude to personal safety. The only prize on offer is pure old-school glory, and the competitors chase this ethereal trophy with dogged enthusiasm, straining at their lap-belts and/or on their knees to cross the line - possibly sideways, or backwards - ahead of all challengers.You can learn more about the event here, and see a fantastic set of photos of this year's event here.
